Burgo has rebuild fine paper machine PM 2 at the Sora mill in Italy for folding boxboard and food service board production. Burgo puts the capacity of PM 2 at 200,000 tpy.
Italy's paper company Burgo Group has officially entered the market for primary fibre based packaging board. The company has launched a new range of products produced at the company's Sora paper mill and sold under the brand name Sun. .
Burgo had installed a new triple-layer headbox and rebuild the PM 2 to produce folding boxboard and food service board grades. "The plant, after a few weeks of testing and ahead of the expected timeframe, is now able to produce a multilayer board with excellent thickness and stiffness, which can stand alongside the best FBB (Folding Box Board) and FSB (Food Service Board) products already on the market." The conversion at Sora mill was in line with Burgo’s strategy of diversifying its production mix and strengthening its market position in the world of packaging, the company said.
According to Burgo, the Sun range of products consists of GC1 and GC 2 board, and three types of foodservice board e.g. for cups, trays, and ice cream packaging.
